Kristen Catton is a Registered Social Worker and Registered Clinical Counsellour who holds a faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. Her experience spans over 15 years as a child, adolescent and family therapist. For the past 10 years Kristen has worked at BC Children's Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry where she is an instrumental figure in teaching both Psychiatrists and Psychiatry residents in various therapeutic modalities.
She is trained to use specific therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as well as Family Therapy. She is also well versed in both Imago and Gottman Couples Therapy. Some of the issues that Kristen works with include: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, behavioural concerns and family conflict. In addition to a thriving clinical practice working with individuals and families Kristen has experience running the Child-Parent Relational Therapy Group, the Connect Parent Group and the DBT group at BCCH while also supervising trainees in IPT.
