Dr. Amrit Dhariwal, R. Psych. is a Registered Psychologist with a clinical practice in infant, child, and adolescent psychology. She also practices with families and couples. The care she provides for families is heartfelt, respectful, and scientifically-supported.
Dr. Dhariwal received her Ph.D. in Clinical-Developmental Psychology from York University in Toronto. She is a full-time clinician-researcher at BC Children’s Hospital, with a special interest in developing, providing, and evaluating psychological treatments. Her hospital projects focus on helping those who have medical conditions affected by stress. Dr. Dhariwal holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC where she teaches about psychological treatment.
At Three Story Clinic, Dr. Dhariwal has a special interest in working with families of very young children (0-6). She provides care for a range of emotional, behavioural, somatic, and relationship concerns. She primarily uses Circle of Security assessment and treatment planning, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy. She is also experienced with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Dr. Dhariwal is currently on leave returning to practice for January 2021.
Fees:
Dr. Dhariwal’s fees are set in accordance with the rate recommended by the BC Psychological Association. They are currently set $250 per session (50 minutes in length) and due at the time of service.
Payment:
All major forms of payment are accepted. MSP does not cover the cost of psychological services. Many extended health insurance plans provide coverage for psychological services; direct billing for select insurers is available. Psychological services not covered by insurance are a tax deductible medical expense.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations with less than two business days’ notice will be charged the full fee.
