How do I or my child arrange to see a Psychiatrist?
Our Psychiatrists see patients by referral from your Family Physician, GP, or Pediatrician. Their fees are covered by Medical Services Plan payments.
How do I or my child arrange to see a Psychologist or Therapist?
Our Psychologists and Therapists see patients by referral from other health care providers, or by self-referral. Some private health insurance plans cover fees (inquire with your insurance provider), or fees are paid directly by patients/families.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please call the clinic as soon as you know you can't make it to your appointment. Cancellations with less than 2 business days notice will be charged the full fee according to the fee schedule. Please note that there are no exceptions provided to this rule.
How soon will we be able to see the doctor or therapist?
The answer depends on which of our professionals you are going to see. We are working to ensure every patient referred to Psychiatry sees the doctor within 4 months of the referral. Our therapists have variable wait times depending on their schedules and often can begin assessing and treatment within one month.
What do I bring to my appointment?
The doctor or therapist might ask information about your past medical issues, including hospitalizations and medications, past and current. You will also need to bring your BC Health card.
I have insurance that covers counselling/psychology/therapy sessions. How do I use that insurance?
You will need to make payment directly at our clinic, and we will provide a copy of the invoice for the services - you can use this to get reimbursement for covered services, from your insurance company.
How do I pay for services at the clinic?
For Psychiatry services, we will directly bill the Medical Services Plan, using your BC Health card. For other services, your professional (Psychologist, Therapist) will arrange payment directly with you.
How much do Psychology or Therapy services cost?
Each of our professionals sets their rates based on their level of training and experience. At the time of booking an appointment, please inquire about their rates.
Can I contact my doctor or therapist on evenings or weekends?
Our clinic provides day-time "elective" care - this means that we don't have the resources to provide care on weekends or nights. If there is an emergency issue, we recommend seeking care from your Family Physician, Pediatrician, or local Emergency Department.
