To address these challenges Jay utilizes a scientific approach- current evidence, research, and theory to shed light on how these negative thought patterns, unhelpful behaviours, and your environment and surroundings can impact your mental health. He incorporates a balanced, holistic approach that will enable you to uncover your strengths, recognize challenges you’ve overcome, and help identify the meaningful connections you have made with people that are supportive in your life. Jay incorporates the following treatment modalities into his practice:
As a master’s level social worker, Jay's beliefs and values align with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) and the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) Code of Ethics. He believes that people are unique and each person carries worth and deserves to be treated with respect. His goal is to create a safe space and non-judgemental environment for you to feel comfortable to share your story. He values diversity, welcoming different perspectives and the importance of being inclusive of all ethnicities, cultures, spiritual beliefs, genders, sexual orientations including the LGTBQ2S+ community.
Jay has found it rewarding to see firsthand people’s ability to make positive changes in their life to learn, adapt, and grow over time. Being a counselor has been a life-changing experience for him and he hopes it will be for you too. Jay is passionate about helping others reach their full potential and accomplish their goals. He acknowledges that it can be challenging to seek out support and to find the motivation to take that first step down a new path. He looks forward to taking the time to get to know you and to help guide you through the peaks and valleys of your journey as you work towards inner peace.
