"I truly value youth and families as experts on their own lives" - J. Collette

Julie Collette, MC, RCC (she/her) is an experienced youth and family counsellor, clinically trained and specializing in mental health, (anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-injury, suicidality), as well as substance use challenges (concurrent disorders) and LGBTQ2S+ ally. She has experience in a variety of settings including non-profit, hospital, outreach mental health, schools, high risk community healthcare as well as in private practice. Julie also supports adults of all ages with significant life transitions.
Above all, Julie comes from a collaborative and compassionate trauma informed practice lens, working with individuals and families towards their self identified goals. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, EFFT, motivational interviewing, brief collaborative solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma therapy, including trauma focused CBT.
Clients describe Julie as thoughtful, warm, calm, caring, passionate, and knowledgeable.
Julie entered the clinical counselling field to support and guide people in uncovering their existing strengths and inner wisdom leading to a greater awareness of how to build more of what they want into their daily lives. What she loves the most about working together with people in session is listening to their “ah hah” moments where new found skills and insights translate in to shifts in thoughts and behaviours leading to self-reported improved quality of life.
She supports youth and young adults aged 15-30, families, and consults with service providers, including clinicians and educators offering system navigation and advocacy expertise.
