Our clinic has practitioners from the following disciplines:
PSYCHIATRY
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who have dedicated an additional 5 years to gain skills and expertise in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of psychiatric and psychological challenges that can impair day to day function or cause distress. These challenges can stem from brain-based disorders, interpersonal or relational challenges, negative thought patterns, traumatic experiences and intense emotional experiences that can be overwhelming. Psychiatrists, especially those specializing in the field of Child and Adolescent, are in high demand which results in long waitlists. In an effort to offer help to as many patients as possible, psychiatrists at Three Story Clinic may choose to focus on assessment, diagnosis and the creation of a treatment plan and have limited availability to deliver the "talk treatments" that are often the mainstay of intervention. Please contact the clinic to discuss the best therapy option for you or your child. Meet our Psychiatrists.
PSYCHOLOGY
Psychologists are mental health professionals who provide services to manage the cognitive, behavioural, emotional, interpersonal and physical functioning of individuals or groups. Psychologists at Three Story Clinic are specifically trained to tease out complex learning challenges and behavioural challenges with children and teenagers. They can diagnose behavioural, emotional, cognitive and mental disorders and can provide specific tools to help manage and overcome health problems or learning challenges within the academic environment. If a patient is dealing with learning challenges, a psycho-educational assessment may be offered to provide guidelines and recommendations to the patient’s school to optimize the learning environment for a child’s specific needs. Meet our Psychologists.

Motivational Interviewing is a focused and goal-orientated counselling style effective at triggering behaviour change. adlerian therapy
The Adlerian approach may be employed in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques and focuses on helping the individual understand the context in which they ‘fit into’ their overall community. There are four stages: 1) Creating a collaborative relationship with the therapist 2) Assessment of the client’s personal story 3) Insight and 4) Reorientation where new insights are applied outside of therapy. insight oriented therapy

The SPACE program provides an alternative to traditional cognitive behaviour therapy or medication for children with anxiety. This therapy is only available online. Learn more about this treatment option Healthy living strategies
In addition to therapy, Healthy Living Strategies may be recommended and can include:
Prescription Medication
If deemed necessary, medication may also be prescribed by clinic psychiatrists as needed. Therapeutically applied Role playing gapes (TA-RPG)
Therapeutically applied role-playing games (TA-RPGs) support youth and adults to become more confident, creative, and socially capable through the intentional facilitation of customized, collaborative gaming experiences. Through the use of Dungeons and Dragons, Minecraft, or other games, kids, adults, and teens can enhance social skills, form lasting friendships, and build confidence and community. TA-RPGs use the alternate worlds of games like Minecraft or Dungeons and Dragons to allow participants to see themselves in a new way, take chances in ways that might not feel as safe in the "real world"; and to start utilizing new patterns of behaviour to replace old ones that might not be serving them. Although TA-RPGs are a newer modality, they build on decades of research about the efficacy of play-based therapies, and function in the spirit of “meeting clients where they’re at.” No specific diagnosis is required to benefit from or participate in TA-RPGs, but commonly supported populations include ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, and more. |
