Pricing & FAQ

Who are you, and what can you do for me?

Three Story Clinic is a private mental health service provider based in Vancouver, BC focused on offering high quality, evidence-based mental health therapy for young people aged 5-29. We offer individual, family, and couples therapy along with psychiatric consultation, psychological testing, and behaviour consultation, all with the goal of helping our clients overcome their struggles and improve their quality of life.

Our professional, certified therapists all come from diverse backgrounds, are thoroughly experienced in a variety of evidence-based therapies, and have been hand-picked by our leadership team for their insight, abilities, and approach.

Do I need a referral to access services at Three Story Clinic?

We welcome referrals from physicians, paediatricians, social workers, and counsellors. However you can self-refer for Therapy Services, Behaviour consultations and psychoeducational assessments for yourself and family members.

How do I see a psychiatrist?

Psychiatry patients must be referred by a family doctor, pediatrician, or a nurse practitioner. Waitlist times to see a psychiatrist can vary.

How do I or my child arrange to see a therapist?

Seeing a Three Story Clinic therapist is easy! Just fill out our Service Request Form and you’ll be expertly matched with a mental health professional who has been hand picked according to your specific needs. If you have been browsing our list of therapists and have a certain person in mind, please include their name in your request.

Within a week of receiving your service request, we’ll be in touch by email to connect you with a Three Story Clinic therapist. From there, you can work directly with them to schedule your first appointment.

Most therapeutic approaches respond to regular sessions. Our therapist will offer weekly or bi-weekly appointments to start so that we make sure that time is set aside for you in the schedule. As you gain more skills or develop better coping, the frequency of the sessions could be reduced in consultation with your therapist.

How do I know which kind of therapy is right for me?

Some people come to us with a clear idea of the kind of therapy they want based on the advice and recommendations they receive from physicians, school counsellors, family members or friends. Most only know that something is wrong—that there is an issue, behaviour, or problem that needs addressing. Our Mental Health Concierge is here to help.

Fill out our Service Request Form to the best of your ability and a mental health professional will get in touch with some questions. We’ll talk about the issues you’ve been experiencing, discuss your needs, and do our best to fully understand your situation. Once we know more about you, we’ll match you with therapy and a provider that we think will be the best fit.

How are therapy services provided?

Therapy sessions may be conducted in our Vancouver office, at the individual therapist’s office, or online. It is up to you and your therapist to decide which time and method is right for you. Please check with your therapist for their in-person and online session availability.

How do I book my appointment?

Initial appointments will be booked directly through your therapist, typically using the Jane app, an online platform specifically designed for health and wellness practitioners to book, schedule and bill for services. After you’ve connected with your therapist, you will receive an invite to create a Three Story Jane App account and possibly complete some forms provided by your therapist. Once you complete the forms you will have access to your therapist’s calendar where you can book, cancel, reschedule, and coordinate your appointments at your convenience.

How does pricing and payment work?

Most Three Story Clinic therapists offer a free 15 minute consultation and each professional sets their own rates based on their training and experience. Approximate rates for an individual in-person and online 50 minute-sessions are as follows:

  • Registered Psychologist: $240-260 per session
  • Registered Social Worker: $150-190 per session
  • Registered Clinical Counsellor: $150-190 per session
  • Counselling Psychology and Social Work graduate students: $70 per session

Your therapist will arrange payment details directly with you. Most therapists accept payment via e-transfer, cash, cheque, and some accept credit cards.

For psychiatry services, we will bill Medical Services using your BC Health card.

Will my therapy be covered by my extended health insurance?

Many extended Health Care insurance and Employee/Family Assistance providers will cover  partial or total coverage for counselling and therapy service provided by Registered Psychologists, Registered Social Workers and Registered Clinical Counsellors. Please check with your extended health provider regarding your specific coverage.

How do I cancel my appointment?

You can cancel or reschedule your therapy appointment through your Three Story Jane App.

All cancellations with less than two full business days’ notice will be charged the full fee according to the fee schedule. Please note that there are no exceptions to this rule.

If you do not have access to your Three Story Jane App account, please email your therapist directly to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
