Chandler Vivian (he/him)
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Candidate
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Chandler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and is a graduate of the Vancouver College of Counselling Therapy (VCCT). He is currently completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Adler University and provides counselling under clinical supervision. Chandler has worked as a Behaviour Interventionist for over 5 years supporting neurodivergent youth ages 5-18 and their families where he honed skills navigating challenging situations, thinking creatively, and building meaningful connections with young people and their families. While his behavioural background gives him confidence working with behaviours that can feel difficult or overwhelming, Chandler’s counselling approach looks beyond behaviour to understand what it may be communicating.
FOCUS
Chandler is passionate about supporting neurodivergent children, youth, adults and families as they navigate growth, relationships, and everyday challenges. He takes a collaborative, playful, and neurodiversity-affirming approach, helping clients better understand their sensory experiences, develop regulation and co-regulation skills, and find ways of adapting that honour their individual needs. Chandler also supports common mental health concerns that may accompany masking and chronic coping, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. He works alongside clients to build on their strengths, increase connection, and develop sustainable strategies for living well.
Chandler uses evidence-based therapeutic modalities in his work with his clients such as:
- Strengths-based Therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Family Systems Therapy
- Narrative Therapy

Approach
Chandler believes counselling begins with a warm, curious, and accepting relationship where clients can feel safe to be genuine and gradually let go of masking. He approaches clients as the experts in their own lives, working collaboratively to understand what their thoughts, emotions, bodies, and behaviours may be communicating. His practice is primarily informed by Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy, with a strong focus on acceptance, regulation, and meaningful change. Chandler views behaviour as an adaptation rather than something to “fix”, exploring the needs and contexts beneath it. Sessions are playful, creative, and responsive to each client, incorporating psychoeducation, skill-building, collaborative problem-solving, and strengths-based exploration. He works alongside clients and families to identify what can change, accept what cannot, and advocate for what needs to change around them.
