EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Denada (Dea) Mehmeti (she/her) completed her Master’s of Counselling Psychology at Adler University and specializes in supporting youth. Her educational background in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, Sociology, and Mental Health gives her a broadly informed approach to the complex interconnected factors that contribute to mental health. Dea’s preferred modalities include Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and committment therapy (ACT) as she believes the most effective way to change is by understanding the relationship between one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Denada has over 4 years of professional experience in behaviour intervention, working with neurodiverse youth facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. In her work, she has used Floortime interventions allowing for client-directed play to strengthen speech, communication, adaptive functioning, and interpersonal skills.

Denada has been extensively involved on research teams. She has assisted in surveying how supported students feel within the school context, investigated the development of Theory of Mind in young learners over time, and examined the factors leading to caregiver burnout in families of those experiencing mental health crises.
