EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

A Registered Psychologist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University, Dr. Firer entered her field with one goal in mind: to do meaningful work. Throughout her career she has helped young people in a variety of settings, from schools and specialized provincial treatment centres, to inpatient psychiatric hospital units  and detention centres. Her early career was spent in the Adolescent Inpatient Unit at Children’s Hospital and in the BC Autism Assessment Network at Sunny Hill Health Centre. Today, she practises as an independent psychologist and therapist with Three Story Clinic.

FOCUS

Her clinical work experience spans from schools, specialized provincial treatment centres, inpatient psychiatric hospital units, and detention centres. She provides treatment and psychological assessments for children and adolescents who present with a variety of cognitive, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

Approach

Dr. Firer’s approach to therapy is best expressed in this Medicine Woman’s Prayer: “I will not rescue you, for you are not powerless. I will not fix you, for you are not broken. Fees

Sessions:
$235 per session as recommended by the Psychological Association of British Columbia (BCPA) fee schedule.

Assessments:
A short assessment geared towards identifying a very specific issue such as an intellectual disability costs approximately $2000 and includes a report and a feedback session.

The cost for a psycho-educational assessment is $3290.

Fees are collected at the beginning of each hourly session.

 

Medical Service Plan does not cover psychological services.

Private insurance providers such as Pacific Blue Cross, may cover some of the cost of a private psycho-educational assessment or psychological treatment.  Consider checking with your insurance provider to see if you have coverage.
