EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Kristen is a registered clinical counsellor, secondary school counsellor and EMDR registered practitioner with a robust background in education and counselling. Kristen’ expertise lies in working with teens and young adults aged 12-30. who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, behavior, social emotional issues including parent -child relationships. As a mother of three adult children and a teenager, Kristen values building connected relationships with her clients and the family system of all backgrounds and experiences. She offers a safe, empathetic space where clients can feel seen, heard and understood.
FOCUS
Kristen is a seasoned registered clinical counsellor with over two decades of dedicated work with children and youth in roles such as educator, school counsellor and private clinician. Her extensive experience spans both educational and community settings where she has effectively supported young people facing complex mental health issues. Friendly and relational, Kristen adopts a strength-based and solution focused approach in her practice. She employs various therapeutic modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy. As a strong advocate for youth and families, Kristen actively facilitates communication with school systems and a range of community resources.

Approach
Kristen provides a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, ensuring a safe and supportive client-therapist relationship. She teaches clients to regulate their nervous systems through empathy, active listening, gentle encouragement, mindfulness, and creativity. Kristen supports children and youth through their developmental stages, using evidence-based tools and strategies to enhance emotional and behavioural regulation, mental wellness, growth mindset, and resilience. Recognizing the vital role of parents and caregivers, she offers them behavioral and emotional support through emotion coaching and boundary-setting.
Fees
$170 per 50 minute session for individuals
$200 per 50 minute session for couples/family
Payment in the form of cash or email transfer is due at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made. Please note that 2 business days notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full session fee. Some third party payment plans such as Extended Health Care Insurance and Employee/Family Assistance Programs pay partial or total coverage for counselling services. Please follow up with your benefits plan/health care provider.
