Merryn Singer (she/her)

Merryn is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with extensive experience in community mental health programmes and in private practice.  Merryn works with children, youth & adults, often with complex concerns and has a particular passion for working with parents in different contexts. She is gifted therapist with vast experience with both group and individual psychotherapy and has a foundation in psychodynamic and depth psychology.

Merryn’s strengths lie in addressing acute, developmental, and intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, shame, emotional dysregulation, psychiatric disorders, personality disorders and parenting support and she works with clients of all ages.  She is focused on working with the client’s relationship to themselves and others.  She regularly pivots between using evidence-based therapies, and creating a space to safely process history, trauma, and painful emotions.

Merryn works from a psychodynamic lens to explore, increase self-understanding and self-compassion and identify emotions and patterns of behaviour which can often benefit from using skills and strategies integrated from evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as:

  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapies
  • Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • Exposure based therapies for Anxiety and Trauma
  • Play Therapy

I feel privileged to be part of a team of dedicated, talented, and knowledgeable practitioners that challenge, energize and inspire me in their genuine caring for clients of all ages and their commitment to their work with them. I appreciate the different specialities and experience that each practitioner brings contributing to the level of care the clinic is able to offer clients in terms of specialized interventions and wraparound care where needed for children, adolescents, parents and families.
