EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Merryn is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with extensive experience in community mental health programmes and in private practice.  Merryn works with children, youth & adults, often with complex concerns and has a particular passion for working with parents in different contexts. She is gifted therapist with vast experience with both group and individual psychotherapy and has a foundation in psychodynamic and depth psychology.

FOCUS

Merryn’s strengths lie in addressing acute, developmental, and intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, shame, emotional dysregulation, psychiatric disorders, personality disorders and parenting support and she works with clients of all ages.  She is focused on working with the client’s relationship to themselves and others.  She regularly pivots between using evidence-based therapies, and creating a space to safely process history, trauma, and painful emotions.

Merryn works from a psychodynamic lens to explore, increase self-understanding and self-compassion and identify emotions and patterns of behaviour which can often benefit from using skills and strategies integrated from evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as:

Approach

Merryn believes in meeting the person in front of her as and where they are, and working with them to uncover unhelpful patterns that interfere with the enjoyment of their daily lives. Insightful and person-focused, she serves as an excellent guide through trauma, life transitions, and the exploration and expression of one’s self.

Fees

$170 per 50 minute session for individuals

$200 Per 50 Minute Session for Couples/ Co-parenting

Payment in the form of cash, checks, or email transfer is due at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made. Please note that 2 business days notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full session fee. Some third-party payment plans such as Extended Health Care Insurance and Employee/Family Assistance Programs pay partial or total coverage for counselling services. Please follow up with your benefits plan/health care provider.
